The riddle says: A husband and wife have 6 daughters, and each daughter has 1 brother.

How many people are in the family?

The correct answer is 9. 

Why only 9?

Because: 6 daughters + two parents = eight family members.

Then each daughter has 1 brother, but that brother is the same brother for all daughters, which means that there is only one brother.
